Experience in the use of Electron KRT remote con trolled X ray diagnostic system at Military Medical Academy, St. Petersburg, and Research Center for Radiology, Moscow, provided a basis for the industrial production of the system at Electron Scientific Manufacturing Association, St. Petersburg, since 2002. Presently, more than 60 KRT remote controlled X ray diagnostic systems are used in Russian clinics. The KRT remote controlled X ray diagnostic sys tem has three workplaces per remote control support table, a rotary support table, a photographic table, and a photographic rack. The KRT remote controlled X ray diagnostic sys tem implements two X ray imaging technologies: film and digital. Such a combination of X ray imaging tech nologies will be necessary for at least one generation of roentgenologists. Such a combination of X ray imaging technologies in one diagnostic system provides gradual transition to completely digital X ray imaging technology. The KRT remote controlled X ray diagnostic system implements continuous and pulse roentgenoscopy, film and digital roentgenography, and longitudinal tomogra phy.Several models of the KRT remote controlled X ray diagnostic system are commercially available. The models provide different power sources (60 or 80 kW) and digital X ray image intensifiers (XRII) (9, 12, 14, or 16 inch), as well as different number of workstations. In all models of KRT remote controlled X ray diagnostic system are equipped with compact multiposition table providing remote control or on line examination. Free access to the patient is available from the two sides of the table. The KRT remote controlled X ray diagnostic sys tem software implements the function of X ray informa tion system. The software implements: compilation of lists of patients and examinations, archiving of images with repetition rate from 2 to 30 frames per sec, image processing at workstations with regulation of brightness and contrast, variation of density range (window mode), image scaling, positive/negative change, archiving of examination results on server disk, and printing. Because the KRT remote controlled X ray diagnostic system soft ware is compatible with the DICOM 3.0 International Standard, it can be integrated into local information sys tems. The server of the KRT remote controlled X ray diagnostic system is able to serve up to 15 workstations. The KRT remote controlled X ray diagnostic sys tem is described in more detail in [2]. Experience in the use of Electron KRT remote controlled X ray diagnostic system at Military Medical Academy, St. Petersburg, and Research Center for Radiology, Moscow, revealed the fol lowing functional capacities of the system.1. Pulse digital roentgenoscopy at repetition rate from 2 to 30 frames per sec with snapshot of last frame.2. Film and digital roentgenography at anode voltage 40 150 kV and automatic dose control.3. Linear tomographic sections at depth 5 300 mm, angles 8, 20, 30, 40°, and scanning time 0.5, 1.5, 2, and 2.5 sec; focal distance, 1050 mm.4. Automatic movement of the d...
