Indonesian honey contains active compounds that have the potential as antioxidant and anticancer, especially as anticancer of the larynx through inhibition of HEp-2 cells. This study aims to determine the active compounds in longan honey and proposes the mechanism of action in inhibiting HEp-2 cells. The sample was used in the form of longan obtained from honey bee breeders in Central Java. Honey samples were extracted using methanol, and then liquid-liquid partitioning was carried out successively using n-hexane and ethyl acetate. Isolation and characterization of longan honey samples using FTIR and LC-MS/MS showed the presence of the following compounds: Xanthoxol glycosides, Santonin, Octadecanamide, Indole-3 carboxylaldehyde, 3,4-dimethoxycinnamic acid, Dimethyl esculetin, Tryptophan, O-acetyl-L-serine, D-glucose-6-phosphate, Feruloiltyramine, Lauryl diethanolamide, Taurine, 6-mercaptopurine, 3-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-4-phenylcoumarin, 3',4'-dimethoxy-3-hydroxy-6methylflavone and D-1-((3-carboxypropyl)amino)-1-deoxyfructose. The compounds in longan honey against HEp-2 cells is quercetin, 3,6-dimethoxycinnamic acid, phenyl coumarin, dimethyl esculetin, santonin, 6-mercaptopurine, and feruloyltyramine. The proposed mechanism of active compound in honey to inhibit HEp-2 cells in several ways including via caspase pathway and purine synthesis and other relevant mechanisms. However, this assumption needs to be tested further to obtain more precise information regarding the mechanism of inhibition of HEp-2 cells.

Mangroves Sonneratia alb is a plants that grows in tidal areas with considerable environmental pressure. This condition causes the plant to synthesize secondary metabolites that have certain bioactivity to protect it self from destruction. The purpose of this study was to isolate antibacterial secondary metabolites from the mangrove leaves of S.alba. The method applied was to isolate secondary metabolites from the ethyl setate fraction using column chromatography and identified the results of isolation with thin layer chromatography until a pure isolate was obtained. Pure isolates were characterized in structure using HNMR, IR and LC-MS spectroscopy. The resulting isolate in the form of methanol-soluble oil had the molecular formula C24H38O4 with the name Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate. The antibacterial activity of this compound was the same as the antibacterial activity of amoxicillin as a positive control, namely the diameter of the inhibition zone was 7 mm at a sample concentration of 0,21%.Aktivitas Antibakteri Metabolit Sekunder yang Diisolasi dari Daun Mangrove Sonneratia albaABSTRAKMangrove termasuk Sonneratia alba adalah tumbuhan yang tumbuh pada daerah pasang surut dengan tekanan lingkungan yang cukup besar, keadaan ini menyebabkan tumbuhan mangrove menyintesis metabolit sekunder yang mempunyai bioaktivitas tertentu untuk melindungi diri dari perusakan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengisolasi metabolit sekunder antibakteri dari daun mangrove S.alba.. Metode yang digunakan adalah mengisolasi metabolit sekunder pada fraksi etil asetat menggunakan kromatografi kolom dan identifikasi hasil isolasi dengan kromatografi lapis tipis hingga didapatkan isolat murni. Isolat murni dikarakterisasi strukturnya menggunakan spektroskopi HNMR, IR dan LC-MS. Isolat yang dihasilkan berupa minyak yang larut dalam metanol mempunyai rumus molekul C24H38O4 dengan nama Di(2-etilhexil)fthalat. Aktivitas antibakteri dari senyawa ini sama dengan aktivitas antibakteri amoxicilin sebagai kontrol positif yaitu diameter zona hambat sebesar 7 mm pada konsentrasi sampel 0,21%.Kata kunci: Aktivitas antibakteri; metabolit sekunder; Sonneratia alba

Senyawa golongan terpenoid juga telah berhasil diisolasi dari kulit batang Sonneratia alba (Lythraceae) yaitu lupan-3b-ol dan lupeol (Harizon, 2014). Abstrak. Telah diisolasi dua senyawa dari ekstrak akar tumbuhan mangrove S. caseolaris yang berasal dari muara sungai Waetuo, Kecamatan Tanete Riattang Timur, Kabupaten Bone, Sulawesi Selatan. senyawa pertama (1) berupa kristal putih berbentuk jarum dan positif terhadap pereaksi Liebermann-Burchard. Hasil identifikasi dengan FTIR menunjukkan adanya gugus fungsi O-H, CH alifatik (CHsp2 dan CHsp3), C=C, dan C-O. Senyawa kedua (2): berupa serbuk berwarna putih dan positif terhadap pereaksi Wagner dan Dragendorff. Hasil identifikasi dengan FTIR menunjukkan adanya gugus fungsi N-H sekunder, C-H alifatik (-CH2- dan -CH3), C=C, dan C-N. Berdasarkan data tersebut, disimpulkan bahwa senyawa pertama termasuk golongan terpenoid dan senyawa kedua adalah golongan alkaloid. Kata Kunci: Pedada, Sonneratia caseolaris, terpenoid, alkaloid
