Abstract: Brain injuries, such as ischemic stroke, cause cell death. Although phagocytosis of cellular debris is mainly performed by microglia/macrophages (MGs/MΦs), excessive accumulation beyond their phagocytic capacities results in waste product buildup, delaying brain cell regeneration.
