Show more

“…In liver tissue, metals concentrations (except Mn and Cu) show a decrease between summer and autumn seasons for sardine, this can probably be attributed to the upwelling intensity, which is greater during the summer season and lower during the autumn season (Makaoui et al 2005). It is well known that upwelling phenomena contribute to metals bioavailability in environment.…”

“…The parameters (a and b) are very sensitive to monthly sample numbers and the size composition of each species (Fréon, 1988). This variability of the length-weight relationship is linked to that of trophic conditions (Furnestin, 1957;Somoue, 2004) and hydrological condition (Makaoui, 2005). It should be noted that the theoretical maximum size (L∞) depends on the size of the sampled individuals.…”

“…Zooplankton abundances and community structure in coastal ecosystems are closely related to environmental changes in temperature, salinity, chlorophyll, nutrients, turbulence and particularly upwelling activity (Makaoui et al, 2005). Therefore, in order to establish distribution patterns of zooplankton in pelagic ecosystem, it is necessary to study and understand the circulation and distribution of water masses (Boltovskoy, 1999 Barton, 1998, Susek, 2005 and the productivity therein is highest in boreal winter (winter) and spring.…”
