La Araucanía, un espacio en conflicto. Creencias epistémicas del profesorado de Historia en relación con su proceso de ocupación

Abstract

This study seeks to identify the influence of the epistemic beliefs of teachers in Araucanía (Chile) on the teaching of the military occupation of this region at the end of the 19th century. The research has used a qualitative methodology based on content analysis. Twenty-five history teachers from the region were interviewed. Results show that teachers manifest a criterialist vision of history and identify themselves with an interpretive teaching of this discipline. However, deficiencies are still found when they apply the historical method in the classroom. These limitations are associated with the restricted use of historical sources, the existence of a diverse and conflictive school context, and the influence of regional socio-political problems. Este estudio busca identificar la influencia de las creencias epistémicas del profesorado de la Araucanía (Chile) sobre la enseñanza de su ocupación militar a finales del siglo XIX. La investigación, realizada desde un enfoque cualitativo basada en el análisis de contenido, utilizó las entrevistas de 25 profesores y profesoras de historia de la región. Los resultados obtenidos demuestran que, si bien el profesorado manifiesta una visión criterialista de la historia y se identifica con una enseñanza interpretativa de la misma, evidencian deficiencias en su aplicación en las aulas. Estas limitaciones están asociadas a un uso parcial de las fuentes históricas, a la existencia de un contexto escolar diverso y conflictivo, y a la influencia de las problemáticas socio-políticas regionales.
