La caries es una enfermedad multifactorial progresiva, afecta sobre todo a niños ya que se encuentran más expuestos a factores de riesgo que la desarrollan. El objetivo fue analizar la situación del primer molar permanente relacionado con los factores de riesgo que pueden provocar caries en niños de seis a trece años de la escuela Mariano Antezana en el periodo de octubre a noviembre de 2019. Los resultados evidenciaron que la caries en estos dientes se presenta en un 75,47 % siendo una prevalencia muy alta, los dientes más afectados son los inferiores en las piezas 36 y 46, los grados de caries que son más repetitivos son de primer y segundo grado y las obturaciones en estas piezas dentarias se encuentran en porcentajes muy bajos. El cepillado dental ideal solo se presenta en un 36,68 % y la dieta es altamente cariogenica porque más el 99 % consume azúcar y carbohidratos. Concluimos que existe una alta prevalencia de caries en los primeros molares permanentes, que se encuentran activas y al presentar un porcentaje muy bajo de tratamientos de obturación en estos dientes, se puede provocar la muerte prematura de estos dientes que son considerados como la llave de oclusión. Introduction: Universities should generate actions related to health promotion and health education. Caries is a disease where diverse factors and their interactions must be consideredObjective: To assess the epidemiological profile of oral health-disease in relation to caries in a community of university students in the city of Córdoba, Argentina.Material and Methods: Exploratory and retrospective study. It was carried out on the medical records of university students registered at the Health Department (Pro-Secretaria de Asistencia) of the Faculty of Dentistry, during the years 2017 and 2018 (n=397 records). An analysis of classic epidemiological measures of caries indices was carried out. For data analysis, generalized linear regression models were used to determine the magnitude of the effects of the factors considered (sex; age; health insurance coverage and origin) in relation to the DMFT and its components. The analysis was deepened for the factors whose effects were significant in the regressions, setting p<0.05Results: the average age was 21.4 ± 2.2 years and with an approximate ratio of 2 women for every man. The DMFT mean for the evaluated sample was 7.45 ± 4.7 and within a range of 0 to 20. Factor C (decayed) was the component that most influenced the DMFT, almost 80% of the patients. Students presented at least one dental element with caries. Conclusion: age is a factor that significantly affects the DMFT index. Factors such as sex, origin and health coverage did not show significant effects on the DMFT index.

When dental infections occur, various types of antibiotics are used to combat them. The most common antibiotics to be used are tetracycline and chloramphenicol; likewise, the most common bacteria in dental infections are Enterococcus faecalis and Streptococcus mutans. In the present work, we have studied by molecular mechanics methods the interactions of the ribosomal proteins L16 present in Enterococcus faecalis and Streptococcus mutans, identified with UNIPROT code Q839F7 and Q8DS20, respectively. We evaluated the interactions between Q839F7 and Q8DS20 with tetracycline and chloramphenicol antibiotics. We found that the interaction between Enterococcus faecalis (Q839F7) is much more favorable when treated with chloramphenicol. In contrast, the interaction with tetracycline is favored in the case of Q8DS20 present in Streptococcus mutans. This suggests that the treatment should be differentiated depending on the infection level and the presence of some of these bacteria.
