Show more

“…that a path for the magma to the surface was opened and provoked the submarine eruption [López et al, 2012;Perez-Torrado et al, 2012;Martí et al, 2013]. Other gravity change of similar amplitude, and coinciding with the occurrence of various seismic events of magnitude M bLg > 3.6 recorded 20 h before (Figure 5a), could be likewise related with the rupture process and magma ascent to the surface.…”

“…Pérez‐Torrado et al . [] attributed the latter to material commonly formed during shallow submarine eruptions, as observed during the La Serreta eruption in Faial, Azores Islands [ Gaspar et al ., ]. Basanite lava balloons were observed during the entire eruptive period.…”

“…Pérez-Torrado et al, 2012;López et al, 2012;Gonzales et al, 2013;Longpré et al, 2014). Prior to the first visible plume of discoloured water ("the stain"), voluminous gas exhalations, or floating lava bombs, indication of an impending submarine eruption was provided by seismic and ground deformation data, recorded by IGN and GRAFCAN, respectively.…”
