This article presents the results of a research project aimed at analyzing the academic discourses on curriculum in Latin American publications in Web of Science. For this purpose, the methodological route is based on bibliometrics and content analysis from the search, systematization, and analysis of the articles gathered in the documentary corpus. The consolidation of research networks between Latin American and foreign authors is evidenced. However, national work teams prevail, which show the low discussion of perspectives. On the other hand, thematic niches are found in which the research projects are grouped. These niches are: (1) conceptions of science, (2) didactics and teaching, (3) teacher training, (4) interculturality, and (5) scientific research. It is concluded that research in curriculum in natural sciences is a diverse field that unites not only different perspectives of science but also different perspectives of curriculum, since it is associated both to a practical space in the teaching of science and to a theoretical space that involves epistemological perspectives of science and structure of contents.

El trabajo que aquí se presenta da cuenta de los resultados obtenidos luego de la implementación de un proyecto de Metodología A+S que la Universidad Católica Silva Henríquez llevó a cabo en conjunto con el colegio municipal Los Bosquinos de Maipú. El objetivo principal de este trabajo fue evaluar el impacto de esta experiencia en el desarrollo de la producción de textos narrativos en el aula de historia, geografía y ciencias sociales mediante un trabajo interdisciplinario. Desde la perspectiva didáctica, se desarrolló un módulo didáctico que se sustenta en la escritura por proyectos desde un enfoque procesual. El estudio, de tipo preexperimental con análisis cuantitativo, considera la revisión textual—por parte de tres jueces expertos—de los cuentos realizados por 32 estudiantes de séptimo básico. Los resultados dan cuenta de una mejora considerable en la calidad de los textos narrativos, con énfasis en la competencia discursiva. Por su parte, se destaca el valor que esta experiencia de A+S representó no solo para la institución de educación superior, sino también para el socio comunitario.

Meaningful learning using concept maps as a learning strategy

This work presents a proposal for the teaching-learning of the concept map technique applied to the Natural Sciences course in the second year of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO, according to its initials in Spanish). Two sessions have been designed, one of which is an instructor-led session to learn the technique and another is a session in which the students independently create a concept map, applying what they have learned in the previous session. To determine the effectiveness of the proposal, the concept maps created by the students during the two sessions have been evaluated, the grades obtained on the assessment tests for the unit before the concept map experience have been compared to those obtained on the assessment tests for the unit carried out using this technique, and a survey was written to find out the level of student satisfaction with the training received and the usefulness of the concept map technique. The results show that more than 65% of students earned grades between 7 and 9.5 on the concept maps created independently during the two academic years in which the proposal has been implemented. The study carried out allows us to conclude that the students have learned how to create concept maps, and evidences the usefulness of the methodology used and the need to implement more sessions for the creation of concept maps in the Natural Sciences course so that this technique is transformed into a learning strategy. The students have expressed a high level of satisfaction with the training received and the tool they have learned how to use.
