La‐H‐zeolites: efficient catalysts for acetic acid ketonic decarboxylation and esterification

Abstract: BACKGROUND: Cyclohexyl acetate and acetone are used as environmentally friendly solvents, while isobutene acts as an intermediate in the production of methacrolein, ethers, plastics and pharmaceuticals. Two La-zeolite catalysts have been studied for converting acetic acid to cyclohexyl acetate, acetone and isobutene. RESULTS: La-based zeolites were synthesized from Na-nFAU zeolites by ammonium ion exchange, followed by lanthanum ion exchange. The influence of Brønsted and Lewis acid sites on the activity in ac… Show more

“…With the development of an environment-friendly concept, as a green solvent, organic ester is gradually replacing traditional organic solvents such as toluene, xylene, methylethylketone, and so on. [1][2][3][4] Sec-hexyl acetate, as a medium boiling point (100-150 °C) organic ester, is an excellent solvent for nitrocellulose and synthetic resins. 5 Demand for nitrocellulose in North America reached 141 500 tons in 2022, 6 and a large demand will inevitably lead to an increase in solvent consumption.…”
