Show more

“…The mean age of these patients is 37.68 ± 31 years, which is comparable to the results of two other studies [2] [6]. For renal manifestations, high blood pressure was found in 41.13% and reduced dieresis in 11.39%, nephrotic syndrome is the most frequent mode of presentation in our patients, it presents the first indication for renal biopsy with a frequency of 65.18%, this result is comparable to the study conducted in Oujda [7], this frequency is higher than the study conducted in Spain [8]. The presence of acute renal failure was the second indication for PRB with a frequency of 14.55%.…”

“…In our patient cohort, we observed that 33.3% had used herbal medicine, while 32.5% had hypertension, and 6.7% and 1.7% had type 2 diabetes and sickle cell disease, respectively. In a study by Mhamedi et al, from Morocco, 17% of patients had hypertension, and lupus was present in 14% of patients, while glomerulopathy was found in 11% of cases [21].…”

“…In Mhamedi et al's study, nephrotic syndrome also dominated as the primary indication of KB (60%) across all age groups; the presence of a systemic disease with proteinuria or renal involvement (14%) constituted the second most common indication for kidney biopsy, alongside acute kidney injury at 14%. Following close were glomerular syndrome (6%) and rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis (3%) [21]. Within our series, we encountered 21 cases of complications, which included 12.5% (n = 15) of cases of macroscopic hematuria and 5% (n = 6) of cases of microscopic hematuria (detected by an urine dipstick) among the set of KBs.…”

“…The presence of DR can be diagnosed by fundus examination. In contrast, the kidneys are hidden in the abdomen of the human body, so doctors cannot accurately see the specific situation, and the gold standard for diagnosing renal disease is renal puncture biopsy ( 25 ). However, renal puncture biopsy is an invasive test, which is often difficult for the majority of patients to accept, so the use of fundus examination to predict renal disease is increasingly becoming the primary means of clinical doctors to screen for DN.…”
