Label-free detection of enzymatic interaction through dynamic behaviour of microstructures

Abstract

In this work, the dynamic behavior of microcantilever structures is studied under the influence of enzymatic reaction. The variation in the natural frequency has been studied and the effect of surface stress due to the bio reaction has been computed by the variation in the behavior of the microcantilever in response to the biological interaction. A Laser Doppler Vibrometer (LDV) system was used to study the vibrational properties of the microcantilever under the influence of biological specimen. The results prove that the dynamic testing offers much more insight about the bio-interaction and the principle can be used to find out the surface stress due to the biomechanical interaction.
