Abstract: Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a systemic autoimmune disease characterised by tissue-binding autoantibodies and immune complexes. Tacrolimus (Tac), also known as FK506, is an immunosuppressant used in the treatment of lupus; however, it induces T-cell imbalances.
