“…Our study showed that LAG3 was expressed in the normal aortic vascular wall but was absent in atherosclerotic plaque, along with an accumulation of CD3+ lymphocytes in the atherosclerotic plaque. In line with our study, Mulholland et al reported that CD4+ T cell accumulation in aortic plaque was observed in LAG3 knock-out mice and mice treated with LAG3 blockade treatment 40 . Further study of the effect of LAG3 on atherosclerosis with aortic aneurysm is needed.…”

“…Further research and clinical investigations are needed to validate these findings and explore the full therapeutic potential of targeting these immune cell components in managing aortic aneurysms. 7,9,11,15,16,17,18,20,24,25,26,28,33,36,38,39,40,41,46,47,49) were significantly more frequently observed in the AAA-high or Low-CRP groups. According to the presence of AAA and CRP levels, the plots were well divided into t-SNE plots.…”

“…While T cells play a fundamental role in myocarditis, some novel experimental data have emerged suggesting their potential role in atherosclerosis. Studies of genetically modified atherosclerosis-prone mice have demonstrated a role for PD-1, 80 CTLA-4, 81 and LAG3 82 in regulating plaque growth and T cell accumulation in lesions. Likewise, hypercholesterolemic mice administered anti-PD1 and anti-CTLA-4 antibodies displayed increased accumulation of CD8 + T cells in plaques associated with increased necrotic core size, 83 a feature associated with plaque instability.…”

“…In this issue of JACC: CardioOncology , Mulholland et al 8 investigated the effects of LAG3 inhibition in murine models of atherosclerosis. LAG3 is a transmembrane protein that shares structural homology with CD4 and functions as an inhibitory coreceptor that modulates T-cell activation.…”
