“…These techniques allow the capture of instantaneous jet flow fields and turbulent statistics in a 2D plane, typically at moderate spatial resolutions. To date, there have only been a limited number of studies investigating these high subsonic jet flows with three-dimensional (3D) or volumetric measurement techniques and only one (Sellappan et al, 2020) reported thus far with Lagrangian particle tracking (LPT), which can generally provide higher spatial resolution than typical PIV methods (Kähler et al, 2012a;Schröder et al, 2015). The current study aims to demonstrate a new adapted version of a recently developed 3D LPT algorithm, namely, Multi-Pulse Shake-The-Box (MP-STB) (Novara et al, 2016b) and show-case the potential of the technique to provide new insights into jet flow physics by revealing highly resolved 3D jet flow velocity and acceleration fields, and their statistical quantities.…”
