Within the Principality, however, a marked Juniperus expansion is not found at all sites, for the lowland profiles of Glanllynnau (Simpkins, 1974) and Esgyrn Bottom near Fishguard (Slater and Seymour, 1977) exhibit low frequencies (although it is possible that at the latter site at least, a full Flandrian record was not obtained), while on the Cardigan Bay coast at Aberaeron, jfuniperus pollen is absent from a complete Lateglacial/Flandrian sequence and at Clarach, some 25 km to the north, juniper appears to peak in the Stadial sediments and is in decline in pollen zone IV (Taylor, 1973).…”
