Landau quantization and quasiparticle interference in the three-dimensional Dirac semimetal Cd3As2

Abstract: Condensed-matter systems provide a rich setting to realize Dirac and Majorana fermionic excitations as well as the possibility to manipulate them for potential applications. It has recently been proposed that chiral, massless particles known as Weyl fermions can emerge in certain bulk materials or in topological insulator multilayers and give rise to unusual transport properties, such as charge pumping driven by a chiral anomaly. A pair of Weyl fermions protected by crystalline symmetry effectively forming a m… Show more

“…Moreover, as (C n P) 2 ¼ (PC n ) 2 on the k z axis, C n P ¼ ±PC n . However, as the equation (12) is violated if [C n , P] ¼ 0 is fulfilled, we obtain {C n , P} ¼ 0, which immediately leads to the equation (13). In fact, the condition u A,m ¼ À u B,m means exp i 2p…”

“…Cd 3 As 2 , and Bi 1−x Sb x with x ∼ 3 − 4% were recently proposed 27,28,[38][39][40] , and also realized experimentally to be Dirac semimetals [29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37]41 . This has paved the way to realizing a TR broken WSM phase, which has been so far verified by a few experimental signatures 24,37,41,42 .…”

“…Several materials have been theoretically predicted to be 3D DSMs 12,[17][18][19][20][21] and some of them have already been confirmed by experiments. [30][31][32][33] If one breaks the time reversal symmetry 8,22,23,34 or the inversion symmetry, [35][36][37][38] the 3D DSM will evolve into WSM. Very recently, the predictions about WSM state in TaAs family 37,38 have been confirmed experimentally.…”
