Language contact in Mesoamerica and beyond

Abstract: The purpose of this introductory chapter is to provide an overview of the volume by outlining some of the major threads in the published literature on language contact and contact-induced change in Mesoamerica and adjacent areas, and by situating the volume and its individual chapters in the context of this research.
