Abstract:The influence of lanthanide biochemistry during methylotrophy demands a reassessment of how the composition and metabolic potential of methylotrophic phyllosphere communities are affected by the presence of lanthanides. To investigate this, methylotrophs - predominant members of the phyllosphere - were isolated from soybean leaves by selecting for bacteria capable of methanol oxidation with lanthanide cofactors. Strikingly, of the 344 pink-pigmented facultative methylotroph isolates, none were obligately lanth… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
