Abstract: Lanthanides have unique electronic configurations and stepped energy states of [Xe]4fN, which endows them with advantages including stable luminescence, large stokes shift, wide excitation spectral bands, and long fluorescence lifetime. NIR‐II fluorescence imaging overcomes the strong tissue absorption, scattering, and spontaneous fluorescence interference of traditional fluorescence and can achieve deeper tissue penetration and higher spatial and temporal resolution in vivo imaging.
