Lanthanoids I 2800 Lanthanido Ammonium Cations [NM4] 9+ as Main Structural Features in Lanthanide(III) Nitride Chalcogenides and TheirDerivatives. -The compounds La4NS3Cl3 (hexagonal space group P63mc, Z = 2), NaLa10NS14 (tetragonal, I41/acd, Z = 8), Pr5NSe6 (monoclinic, C2/c, Z = 16), Sm3NS3 (orthorhombic, Pnma, Z = 4), Cs2Gd6N2Te7 (monoclinic, C2/m, Z = 2), Sm4N2S3 (monoclinic, C2/m, Z = 2), Ce4N2Te3 (orthorhombic, Pnma, Z = 4), Ce5N2Se4Br (tetragonal, I4mm, Z = 2), La 4 N 2 S 3 (orthorhombic, Pnnm, Z = 2), Pr 4 N 2 S 3 (monoclinic, C2/c, Z = 8), Nd 4 N 2 Se 3 (monoclinic, C2/c, Z = 4), Nd6N3S4Cl (orthorhombic, Pnma, Z = 4), Nd3N2SeBr (orthorhombic, Pnma, Z = 4), and Pr5N3S2Cl2 (monoclinic, C2/m, Z = 4) are prepared by reactions of the lanthanide metals with chalcogens in the presence of alkali metal azides MN3 (M: Na, Cs; 850-900°C, 7 ). All the compounds contain [NLn4] 9+ (Ln: La-Lu) cations as main structural features, present in more or less condensed arrays.
