Lanthanoid(III) Oxide Chloride Oxoselenates(IV): A Fascinating Class of Multinary Compounds.

Abstract

Structure D 2000Lanthanoid (III) Oxide Chloride Oxoselenates(IV): A Fascinating Class of Multinary Compounds. -As revealed by single crystal XRD, the crystal structures of the compounds Gd9O8Cl3[SeO3]4 (triclinic, space group P1, Z = 1), CsEu4O3Cl3[SeO3]2 (P1, Z = 2), Tb5O4Cl3[SeO3]2 (monoclinic, C2/m, Z = 2), Yb4O3Cl2[SeO3]2 (P1, Z = 2), Er3O2Cl[SeO3]2 (monoclinic, C2/c, Z = 4), Tb3O2Cl[SeO3]2 (orthorhombic, Pnma, Z = 4), and Tb 2 O[SeO 3 ] 2 (tetragonal space group P4 2 /ncm, Z = 4) are dominated by two unifying structural features. These features are isolated [SeO3] 2tetrahedra with one non-bonding electron pair as pseudo-ligand and oxygen-centered [OLn4] 10+ tetrahedra (Ln: Eu, Gd, Tb, Er, Yb). -(SCHLEID*, T.; WONTCHEU, J.; J.
