Sevelamer hydrochloride (SH), originally developed as an oral pharmaceutical for controlling blood phosphate levels, is a polyallylamine resin that could be used in water treatments. Although it binds phosphates effectively, its adsorption capacity suffers from a significant loss at high pH. Here, we modify SH with lanthanum oxalate to improve its phosphate adsorption in alkaline environments. With less than 6.00 wt% in La content, the composite adsorbent (SH-1C-1La) exhibits an adsorption capacity of 109.3 mg P g –1 at pH 8.0 and 100.2 mg P g –1 at pH 10.0, demonstrating significant enhancement from the original SH (86.3 mg P g –1 at pH 8.0 and 69.4 mg P g –1 at pH 10.0). Besides its high adsorption capacity and rapid adsorption kinetics, SH-1C-1La is capable of maintaining more than 78% of its capacity after four regeneration cycles, showing good durability in long-term applications. Zeta-potential measurements and XPS analysis reveal that the lanthanum oxalate species increase the surface potential to enhance the electrostatic adsorption while introducing chemical binding sites for phosphate ions. Both factors lead to the improved adsorption properties. The modification by lanthanum oxalate species might provide a new alternative for improving the phosphate adsorption properties of anion-exchange resins.

Considering the risk associated with exposure to benzene and toluene in water resources, researchers have been motivated to conduct studies to remove them from aqueous solutions. Thus, by performing the present study, the potential of Fe3O4/zeolite imidazolate framework nanoparticles (Fe3O4@ZIF-8) was evaluated for the adsorption of benzene and toluene. Accordingly, the solution pH, Fe3O4@ZIF-8 dosage, mixing time, concentration of benzene and toluene, and temperature, were the parameters considered for conducting the batch experiments, for which their effect on adsorption efficiency was evaluated. Our conducted experiments introduced the neutral pH as the best pH range to obtain the maximum removal. Fitting the adsorption data into the various models revealed the aptness of the Langmuir isotherm equation in describing experimental information and highest adsorption capacity; for benzene it was 129.4, 134.2, 137.3, and 148.2 mg g−1, but for toluene it was 118.4, 125.2, 129.6, and 133.1 mg g−1, for temperature 20, 30, 40, and 50 °C, respectively. Using obtained optimal conditions, the adsorption efficiencies of benzene and toluene were obtained to be 98.4% and 93.1%, respectively. Kinetic studies showed acceptable coefficients for PSO kinetics and confirmed its suitability. Also, the recyclability results showed that for six consecutive periods of the adsorption-desorption process, the percentage of removal decreased by only 6% for benzene and toluene. Moreover, calculating thermodynamic parameter changes for benzene and toluene removal confirmed the favorability and spontaneity of the studied process and its endothermic nature. Considering the above findings, Fe3O4@ZIF-8 was found to be an operative adsorbent for removing pollutants.

The paper analyzes the detection of insomnia and carotid artery stenosis by magnetic sensitivity weighted imaging (SWI) based on radio communication and its relationship with cognitive dysfunction. A total of 148 patients with carotid artery stenosis and insomnia admitted to our hospital from January 2020 to June 2021 are selected. According to different detection methods, wireless communication combined with SWI group and conventional group are established respectively, with 74 cases in each group. The conventional group applies CT angiography (CTA) is in line with the intervention mode of patients complaining of sleep at night. In the wireless communication combined with SWI group, the sleep monitoring system of wireless communication combined with SWI detection method is used to observe the imaging detection rate, insomnia detection rate and diagnostic efficiency of the two groups. The differences of PSG index parameters, sleep quality (PSQI) score and cognitive function (MoCA) score of patients with different disease degrees are compared. Pearson correlation coefficient is used to analyze the correlation between PSQI score and MoCA score. SWI sequence scan based on wireless network communication has high efficiency in the diagnosis of carotid artery stenosis, and the sleep status of patients can be better understood by real-time monitoring of patients, which is of great significance for the follow-up development of effective diagnosis and treatment plans and recovery of patients’ cognitive function, and worthy of clinical application.
