Laparoscopic and robotic distal gastrectomy for gastrointestinal stromal tumour: case report

Abstract: Minimally invasive surgery offers benefits compared to open surgery, and laparoscopic and robot-assisted gastrectomy for the treatment of GIST could be technically feasible and safe because of the advantageous movements provided by the robotic arms.

“…Robotic surgery was introduced to overcome the limitations that could have been encountered with laparoscopic approach in case of difficult locations or large tumours. However, only a few reports 4–14 have been published in literature regarding robotic surgery for gastric GIST and most of them were presented in form of case report or small case series with less than 10 cases 4–6,8,9,11–13 …”

“…most of them were presented in form of case report or small case series with less than 10 cases. [4][5][6]8,9,[11][12][13] In this study we aim to present short-and long-term data of gastric GIST resection from five Italian centres, focussing our analysis on the comparison among open (OG), laparoscopic (LG) and robotic (RG) approaches. The tumour-related variables collected were tumour location, tumour size (mm), type of growth and resection margins (R0/1).…”

“…Сообщения о робот-ассистированных операциях при ГИСО различной локализации еди-ничны, в них не обсуждаются вопросы тактики и особенности техники выполнения вмешательств, отсутствует сравнение результатов с таковыми после лапароскопических операций [16,18].…”

“…Bariatric surgery, paediatric surgery, animal and experimental laboratory studies, and reports in abstract form only, were excluded. We also excluded case reports on robot‐assisted gastrectomy for the treatment of gastrointestinal stromal tumours because of the lack of standardized surgical resections and lymphadenectomy for this type of tumour . The latest publication with the largest patient numbers was emphasized if the same surgery unit had published multiple reports.…”
