“…Conversion to OC can result in significant changes in the outcome of patients regarding the duration of hospital stay and postoperative complications. 18 In our study, the conversion rate was 3.33%, which was comparable to studies done in Nepal, India, and Pakistan. 11,13,19,21, However, another study done in Baghdad, Saudi Arabia, and Nepal had a conversion rate of 5.2%, 5.5%, and 7.2% and 9.2% respectively 3,8,9,22 which had a higher conversion rate than our study.…”

“…16,17 However, a study done in Sudan and India had a mean operative duration of 47 minutes and 55 minutes respectively. 18,19 There is significant variation regarding conversion to open cholecystectomy ranging from 5 to 10%. Conversion to OC can result in significant changes in the outcome of patients regarding the duration of hospital stay and postoperative complications.…”

“…The conversion rate of 1.9% compares very favourably to other series from Africa that range from 5-18%. [6][7][8][9][10] This low conversion rate is likely to rise as other surgeons in this hospital begin to perform the procedure with its attendant steep learning curve. 6 Significant bleeding occurs in 0.5% of LC and is one of the common reasons for conversion.…”

“…These drugs are able to depress the hypothalamic thermoregulation and generate shivering as a compensatory mechanism [10]. In our study, the long surgical time (82 ± 5 min) as compared with others [29] can account for the sustained hypothermia, the increased hemodynamic values, and the shivering observed in patients who received passive external rewarming. The increased values of hemodynamic variables in the hypothermic patients of this study could result from the adrenergic response to hypothermia, which has been supported by others [30,31].…”
