“…Omentectomy was performed in 85 % of the laparoscopic and 65 % of the open patients. Similar rates of peritonitis, exit site infections, and catheter migrations were noted, though the time to catheter dysfunction was longer for the laparoscopic group (9 vs. 2.4 months) [170]. In a single, prospective, non-randomized series, catheter leakage occurred in five of 23 patients undergoing open placement and only two of 25 placed laparoscopically, with one of the two healing spontaneously.…”
