Abstract:Lily, Lilium longiflorum has been used to study meiosis for advantages of the synchronous development among sporogenous cells within an anther. In order to identify genes expressed at meiosis, we carried out random sequencing of a cDNA library which represented the mRNAs from microsporocytes of L. longiflorum at the zygotene stage of meiotic prophase. To avoid redundancy of eDNA clones and to obtain novel sequence information efficiently, weexploited a simple and versatile "self hybridization" strategy . Singl… Show more
“…We have selected and sequenced ϳ400 cDNA clones from a cDNA library of lily PMCs by the self-hybridization method as described previously (7). One of these cDNA clones, designated M1125, is closely related in amino acid sequence to the SCR gene, which encodes a putative transcription factor that regulates an asymmetric cell division in the Arabidopsis root (8).…”

“…In an attempt to obtain information for genes expressed during microsporogenesis and meiosis, we previously carried out a large scale sequencing project using a lily zygotene cDNA library (7). One of the sequenced clones, M1125, has homology with a plant-specific putative transcription factor, Scarecrow (SCR).…”

“…A large-scale analysis of genes highly expressed in germ cells of the trumpet lily (Lilium longiflorum) was carried out, focusing on the genes , which show remarkable antimicrobial activity in its floral organs (Morohashi et al 2000). One of the genes highly expressed in reproductive organs was discovered to encode LlSCL (Lilium longiflorum Scarecrow-like), one of the novel GRAS proteins, and investigated in detail.…”

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
