The Great Altai region, located at the boundary of Russia, Mongolia, China, and Kazakhstan, belongs to the system of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt. It has undergone a long complex geological and metallogenic history. Extremely rich resources of base, precious, and rare metals (Fe, Cu, Pb, Zn, Ag, Au, Li, Cs, Ta, Nb, REE, etc.) maintain developed mining and metallurgical industry, especially in East Kazakhstan, which is the key metallogenic province. The East Kazakhstan province comprises the Rudny Altai, Kalba-Narym, West-Kalba, and Zharma-Saur metallogenic belts, each having its typical mineralization profiles and deposits. The reconstructed geodynamic and metallogenic history of the Great Altai province, along with the revealed relationships between tectonic settings and mineralization patterns, allowed us to formulate a number of geodynamic, structural, lithostratigraphic, magmatic, mineralogical, and geochemical criteria for exploration and appraisal of mineral potential in Eastern Kazakhstan. Geodynamic criteria are based on the origin of different mineralization types in certain geodynamic settings during the Late Paleozoic–Early Mesozoic orogenic cycle. Structural criteria mean that the location of base-metal deposits in Rudny Altai, gold deposits in the West Kalba belt, rare and base metals in the Kalba-Narym and Zharma-Saur zones is controlled by faults of different sizes. Lithostratigraphic criteria consist of the relation of orebodies with certain types of sedimentary or volcanic-sedimentary rocks. Magmatic criteria are due to the relation between mineralization types and igneous lithologies. Mineralogical and geochemical criteria include typical minerals and elements that can serve as tracers of mineralization. The joint use of all these criteria will open new avenues in prospecting and exploration at a more advanced level.

Goal of the research is to study regularities, age, material composition and ore content of ongonite-like dike belts of East Kazakhstan. Methods are field works carried out within Kalba-Narym shear zone where dike belts are developed. Geological and structural position of dikes and their age ratio to granitoids of Kalba-Narym pluton and ore formations have been determined. The samples were selected from varieties of ongonite dikes. Microprobe analyses have been carried out on a scanning election microscope JSM 6390 with an energy-dispersive add-on device, besides, mass-spectrometer researches have been conducted on ICP-MS. The purpose of these is to identify mineralogical and geochemical specialization of dike rocks. Findings. The following has been found due to the conducted researches and comparison analysis with other regions: Two groups of heterochronous dike belts were formed during Hercynian Period in geological structures of East Kazakhstan comprised in general system of Central Asian belt. The dike belts belong to gabbro- diorite – granodiorite – plagiogranite series, and the groups are of pre-batholite (C2-3–C3) and post-batholite (P2) types. Late postbatholite dikes of quartz porphyrites and quartz albitophyres of Mirolyubovsky complex (P2) refer to ongonites. Probably, they are derivatives of deep residual magma chambers. In the course of the work, ongonites geochemical differentiation into rare metals(Ti, Nb, Li, Sn, W and other) and rare alkalies has been established. The researches have shown that ongonite-like dikes are of post-mineral nature that is proved by their position in relation to ore bodies and by other factors. Besides, no rare metal ore of practical significance has been found within these dikes. Scientific novelty and practical application. It can be assumed that greater development of gabbro- diorite – granodiorite – plagiogranite dikes within the known and supposed ore fields, as well as specialization of rocks that dikes are composed of, enable to consider them as prospecting indicators of concealed rare metal objects. To study dike formations of this kind is very important for reconstruction of geodynamic environments, for development of correlation patterns of granitoid magmatism and for studying ore formation processes. By all means, all this can be used in geologic mapping practice, especially on the closed territories.

Modeling of Ore-Magmatic System of Gold Deposits in Eastern Kazakhstan

The article is devoted to the results of using system-defined geological modeling for forecasting gold deposits on the territory of the oldest gold mining region in the Republic of Kazakhstan – the West Kalba gold belt (East Kazakhstan). Research is aimed at developing forecast criteria and searches for new ore objects in favorable geological structures. The main attention of the conducted research was focused on a system-defined analysis of geological factors, the interaction of which provides a synergy effect and reveals the patterns of formation of gold ore objects. To solve this problem, the authors made a quantitative assessment of the development sustainability of the ore-generating elements of the system according to S.V. Vasiliev methodology. A quantitative assessment of the stability of individual factors and their interaction made it possible to assess the qualitative state of individual sections and define the natural boundaries of the areas of the corresponding hierarchical level, promising for the search of certain mineral deposits. The specific work was carried out to define the areas promising for the search of deposits based on a quantitative assessment of the individual factors stability. Using geological materials, results of geophysical work, space-geological data, the localization of promising areas within the West Kalba structural-formation zone and the Zhumba ore-magmatic system in East Kazakhstan was done.
