Abstract: Photodynamic inactivation (PDI) utilizes a photosensitizer (PS) activated by visible light to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS), to kill bacteria. PDI is effective against planktonic microorganisms, but biofilms are less sensitive due to limited PS and oxygen penetration.
