Laser Treatment Monitoring with Reflectance Confocal Microscopy

Abstract: Laser treatments have become popular in Dermatology. In parallel to technologic development enabling the availability of different laser wavelengths, non-invasive skin imaging techniques, such as reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM), have been used to explore morphologic and qualitative skin characteristics. Specifically, RCM can be applied to cosmetically sensitive skin areas such as the face, without the need for skin biopsies. For these reasons, apart from its current use in skin cancer diagnosis, our syst… Show more

“…Nonetheless, in the era of innovative perioperative imaging methods in all subspecialties of surgery [ 24 , 25 ], we will continue to use ICGA in our clinical practice, as we believe it provides a more precise prediction of parathyroid gland-viability especially in patients undergoing central neck dissection. This valuable information aids in decision-making for parathyroid autotransplantation and will give us an idea of which patients might be susceptible to hypoparathyroidism.…”

“…Moreover, recent studies have highlighted the role of EVOO in enhancing skin repair mechanisms [ 29 , 30 , 31 ]. The topical application of EVOO has been shown to accelerate wound healing processes, attributing to the stimulation of collagen synthesis and angiogenesis.…”

“…The aim is to illuminate the benefits and practical applications of CO2 laser frenuloplasty, supported by a comprehensive evaluation of patient-reported outcomes. This includes a detailed analysis of its impact on both the physical and mental well-being of patients, contributing to a broader understanding of its role in modern surgical practice [15].…”
