Lasertherapie in der Dermatologie und sthetischen Medizin

Abstract: Many different laser systems are used in dermatology. To wisely choose the correct laser for a given problem, one must be aware of both the spectrum of disorders for which each laser is suited and the potential side effects. We compare the side effect and complication profiles of the common laser systems pointing out their possibilities and limitations. Typical treatment errors will be pointed out. Dermatological training, extensive experience in laser therapy and compliance with quality guidelines are prerequ… Show more

“…Most treatments are performed by trained laypersons without any medical supervision. In addition, the expectations of patients are often raised unrealistically (for instance: “removal of 80–90% of the hair in 2–3 sessions” or “1064 nm Nd:YAG laser is superbly suited for removing moles and dark hyperpigmentation spots”) [1, 2]. The underlying legal premise supporting this situation is that the practitioners are not treating disease.…”

“…4,19,20,23 The risk of scarring cannot be ruled out entirely because the basement membrane can be destroyed when several treatment passes are used. 24 In the present study, pyogenic granulomas were removed successfully with low rates of concomitant reactions or adverse effects; this was due to the combined use of continuous and pulsed mode of the CO 2 laser. The continuous mode leads to rapid and minimally invasive coagulation of the vascular lesion.…”

“…However, it is operator-dependent and may be associated with local side effects (52). In the last decade, laser techniques became very popular, mostly because of the growing improvement of the technologies and the professional skilfulness of dermatologists (53). The main advantages of lasers over electrolysis are related to their rapid effectiveness and, in most cases, the relative permanence of hair removal (1).…”
