“…This work continued both in Death Valley and throughout southwestern North America, resulting in a relatively consistent alluvial fan stratigraphy for the region; however, subtle differences in the nomenclature exist between researchers, as illustrated in Table 1 (Denny, 1965;Hunt and Mabey, 1966;Reynolds, 1969;Hooke, 1972;Moring, 1986;Bull, 1991;Hooke and Dorn, 1992;Nishiizumi et al, 1993;Klinger, 2001a,d;Frankel and Dolan, 2007;Machette et al, 2001Machette et al, , 2008. “…Tule Lake in northern California was deep and dilute between 1.4 and 1.2 myr (Bradbury, 1991), and Searles Lake in southern California was fresh and overflowing from 1.2 to 1.0 myr (Smith et al, 1983;Jannik et al, 1991). A lake was probably present in Fish Lake Valley (Lake Rennie; Reheis et al, 1993) and possibly in Death Valley (Knott et al, 1996) at about 1 myr.
