“…The present study is based on the south core (SK1 (S)). This core is 959.55 m long, covering the strata of member 3 of the Quantou Formation to member 2 of the Nenjiang Formation (Gao et al, 2008;Wan et al, 2012), which were deposited during large lake expansions.…”

“…These features mark an abrupt change of environment from the first deep lake stage during early Qingshankou Fm to shallow lake or exposure during the latest Qingshankou Fm (Song et al, ). Recently, extensive chronology investigations carried out recently tightly constrained the age of the T11 boundary as 86.2–88 Ma (Deng et al, ; He et al, ; Song et al, ; Wan et al, ; Wang et al, ). This time interval coincides with coeval unconformities or hiatuses documented in the numerous other Cretaceous sedimentary basins in eastern China and Mongolia (A et al, ; Bonnetti et al, ; Graham et al, ; Johnson et al, ; Song et al, ).…”

“…Unlike the overlying Cenozoic strata, the Late Cretaceous strata of the basin were strongly folded and truncated during this uplift and deformation event (Figure ). According to the stratigraphic age of the uppermost member of the Mingshui Formation (Wan et al, ; Wu, Wang, et al, ), the T02 gap began at ~65 Ma. However, its duration has no reliable chronological constraints because the Cenozoic deposits are localized, thin and barren (Song et al, ).…”

“…Markevich as Kuprianipollis santa loides-Duplosporis borealis Assemblage and dated as Santonian [7,8] Nearby the Jiayin area to southwest, there is the Songliao Basin, the largest Mesozoic sedimentary basin in Northeast China, consisting mainly of the Upper Cretaceous deposits, yielding abundant fossils and oil gas resources. The Upper Cretaceous of the Songliao Basin is composed of (in ascending order) the Quantou, Qinshankou, Yaojia, Nenjiang, Sifangtai and Mingshui formations, which have been studied in high resolution with radiometric dating in recent years [19][20][21][22][23]. Among these formations, the upper Yaojia Formation and lowest Nenjiang Formation could be correlated to the Yong'ancun Formation of Jiayin.…”
