“…The Sofular Cave record (Göktürk et al, 2011) highlighted enhanced and more intense precipitations in the southern Black Sea region between 9.6 and 5.4 cal ka BP, in agreement with regional climatic trends reconstructed from pollen records from the east Mediterreanean (e.g., Kotthoff et al, 2008). However, further west, in the Marmara Sea, in the Gulf of Gemlik, sedimentary records suggest dry conditions between 8.2 and 5.4 cal ka BP followed by alternation of wet and dry climate conditions (Filikci et al, 2017).
