Late Needling mit 5-Fluorouracil bei drohender Sickerkissenvernarbung

Abstract: Late needling and injections of 5-FU can restore filtering bleb function even over 4 months after initial surgery. The high success rate and low incidence of complications together with the simple procedure justify regarding this approach as an alternative that can be used before passing on to more invasive interventions.

“…Corneal epithelial lesions including corneal detachment and filamentous keratitis frequently occurs after needle revision when patients require multiple injections of anti-metabolism drugs, for example, 5-FU. [ 5 , 7 ] In this study, there were no serious complications during the operation and in the postoperative follow-up period. The application of conbercept also avoided the toxic effects of subconjunctival injection of anti-metabolism drugs, and no complications such as corneal epithelial toxicity and filtration bleb leakage occurred in all patients.…”

“…We performed subconjunctival injection of conbercept after needle revision, and the overall success rate was 81.25%, which was consistent with the previous success rate for needle revision combined with anti-metabolism drugs. [4,5] In the study, we did not only select those patients treated in the short term (e. g., within 4 months) after glaucoma filtration surgery, [26] but in the current study, the total success rates were relatively high. We observed that even in patients with a long postoperative interval, there may still be good efficacy, which suggests that we can still try needle revision for patients with late poor filtration follicle function.…”
