Vietnam’s economy will be the fastest-growing in 2023 and 2024 compared to ASEAN-5 countries. Since the country is following a development pathway, it is in a position to bet on a Circular Economy (CE), which is a widespread phenomenon for Sustainable Development. This study identifies major environmental challenges and remarks on the evolution of regulations and notable actions in the CE direction. For instance, emphasizes the approximately 4,000 Recycling Craft Villages that poorly implement a CE, focusing on Da Hoi. Finally, this article aims to identify challenges and opportunities, provide recommendations, and portray the future of circularity. Both desk and field research was conducted, including interviews and event attendance. Three principal conclusions are depicted; the limitations in the waste value chain of Recycling Craft Villages, the necessity to minimize air pollution through circularity, and budgetary restrictions are noted as continual hurdles to moving toward circularity. This article will interest policymakers, Vietnamese and international businesses, and academics.

Sustainable energy development had been signified as the pathways for the global energy transition, that drive important changes in how energy is being generated, transmitted, and consumed. The concept of Circular Economy (CE) has been proposed to address the environmental problem by minimizing the resource inputs and emission generation, reuse the waste and refuse from the conventional production process to obtain a further benefit. However, the contribution of CE to sustainable energy development and its link to Quintuple Helix (QH) elements is still ambiguous. This paper intends to fulfil this gap by examining the five main elements of the QH that contribute to the CE ecosystem, namely academia, companies, environment, government, and society. Innovative technologies from sludge management in urban wastewater sectors are discussed as the case study. A framework relating the QH with CE and innovation are proposed for future research. Practical recommendations associated with CE and sustainable energy policies are also provided.

This study explores the importance of critical raw materials and minerals by analyzing the Republic of Korea’s recent circular economy and resource security policy. Raw materials and rare metals are becoming increasingly significant to the Korean economy because the country is currently shifting away from fossil fuels and nuclear power towards renewable energy resources as well as transforming its industries towards decarbonization, digitization, and automation. Korea is a resource-poor country and is heavily dependent on imported minerals and rare earths, which are essential for its economy and new industry. Responding to these challenges and concerns, Korea is moving towards a sustainable circular economy and achieving greater resource security. Despite certain limitations, this transition would ultimately contribute in preparing Korea for current and future challenges in the areas of critical raw materials and minerals.
