“…A growing number of autism research studies have focused on understanding SS Latinx caregiver values, preferences, and experiences related to early interventions (Dubay et al, 2021; Martinez-Torres et al, 2021; Peredo et al, 2022). This research has shown that SS Latinx mothers of children with disabilities prefer to be involved in goal setting and in-home therapies (Núñez & Hughes, 2018), that older siblings and extended family play a critical role in the early communication development of Latinx children (Cycyk & Hammer, 2020), and that familismo (i.e., the idea to prioritize family over anything else) may buffer the relationship between autism stigma and caregiver stress for Latinx families (Magaña et al, 2017; Martin et al, 2022; Ratto et al, 2017).
