Lattice gluon propagator in renormalizableξgauges

Abstract: We study the SU(3) gluon propagator in renormalizable R ξ gauges implemented on a symmetric lattice with a total volume of (3.25 fm)4 for values of the gauge fixing parameter up to ξ = 0.5. As expected, the longitudinal gluon dressing function stays constant at its tree-level value ξ. Similar to the Landau gauge, the transverse R ξ gauge gluon propagator saturates at a nonvanishing value in the deep infrared for all values of ξ studied.

“…(4.38) diverges. At the same time, however, they also show that the gluon propagator continues to saturate in the IR, a result that has been confirmed by lattice simulations [9]. If the behavior of the ghost dressing function is to be confirmed, these results would point towards some highly nontrivial dynamics in the ghost sector, which would ensure that the function K (and possibly L) appearing in Eq.…”

“…The general formalism developed in this work sets up the stage for a detailed quantitative study of the precise field-theoretic mechanism that accounts for the infrared saturation of the gluon propagator observed in recent lattice simulations performed away from the Landau gauge [9]. In particular, the relevant set of Bethe-Salpeter equations must be derived for general ξ, and then appropriately coupled to Eqs.…”

“…Given the above observations, we have evaluated the BSE kernel using as input the ∆(q 2 , ξ) from the lattice [55], but have employed qualitatively distinct Ansätze for f . In particular, we used (i ) two functional forms for f , sharing the common characteristic of being finite at the origin, and (ii ) an Ansatz for f that reverses sign in the IR ("zero-crossing") and diverges logarithmically as it approaches the origin.…”
