Introduction: Pre-eclampsia is a multi-system disorder of unknown etiology and a major cause of maternal and perinatal complications. LDH is an intracellular enzyme and is increased when there is increased cell death. As pre-eclampsia leads to cellular death, so LDH levels can beused to assess the severity of disease. Aim: To study the correlation of levels of serum LDH in women with preeclampsia on maternal and perinatal outcome. Objectives: To correlate the maternal and perinatal outcomes with serum LDH levels. To assess serum LDH as a marker for severity of preeclampsia. Materials and Methods: A prospective comparative studywas conducted over a period of 18 months from November 2016 to April 2018 in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Sri Siddhartha Medical Hospital, Tumakuru. Out of 180 women studied, 100 were normal pregnant women, 40 patients were having mild preeclampsia and 40 patients were having severe preeclampsia. The two groups and subgroups were studied based on age, gravidity, trimester, investigations, maternal and perinatal outcome, complications and follow up. Results: Higher values of LDH were found in mild and severe preeclamptic women than those of normal pregnant women in third trimester and was statistically significant. Severe lypreec lamptic patients had increased LDH levels which in association with investigations, outcome, complications and follow up was significant. Conclusion: LDH is a useful biochemical marker and can be considered as a supportive prognostic tool thatreflects the severity and complications of preeclampsia. Identification of high-risk patients, their close monitoring, and correct management may prevent these complications.

Background: Preeclampsia is a disorder of widespread vascular endothelial malfunction and vasospasm that occurs after 20 weeks' gestation and can present as late as 4-6 weeks post-partum. Pre-eclampsia is a syndrome with multiple aetiologies which has made it difficult to develop adequate screening tests and treatments. Objective of this study to assess the level of gamma glutamyl transferase and lactate dehydrogenase as biochemical markers of severity of preeclampsia in Sudanese pregnant women.Methods: This is a case control hospitalize base study. The study was conducted in preeclamptic pregnant women in Omdurman maternity hospital and medical military hospital in Khartoum state. In this study glutamyl transferase and lactate de-hydrogenase was estimation in 100 Sudanese pregnant women by spectrophotometer method, 50 of them were diagnosed with preeclampsia 27 from this is severe preeclampsia and 23 is mild preeclampsia was matched in aged. Serum samples of all the cases were assayed for GGT and LDH. The data was recorded and analyzed using statistical package for social sciences (SPS –version 16) on programmed computer. The mean standard deviations of variable were calculated for both the test group and the control group and P value for comparison was obtained.Results: The mean values of plasma gamma glutamyl transferase in mild and severe preeclamptic pregnant women were insignificant difference when compared to control P value (0.346 - 0.089) respectively. The mean values of plasma lactate dehydrogenase in mild and severe preeclamptic pregnant women were significant increase when compared to control P value (0.008 - 0.001) respectively.Conclusions: The levels of LDH is raised in Sudanese pregnant women with hypertensive also can be useful biochemical marker that reflects the severity of and the occurrence of complications of pre-eclampsia. GGT levels were normal in Sudanese pregnant women with hypertensive preeclampsia.

Although a rare and challenging condition, cancer during pregnancy should promptly be identified and treated. Not only standards of care guidelines for the underlying disease are taken into account, but also fetal safety might be weighted for clinical decisions. Frequent lack of experience and knowledge about this condition could lead to late diagnosis, imprecise management, suboptimal treatment and fetal and maternal harm. Therefore, this review aims to summarize the current evidence regarding the epidemiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic workup, staging and treatment, including novel treatment modalities for patients diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy.
