Show more

“…These sites occur in calcarenites below the 'Marnes d'Auzas', which are more than 200 m thick in the type section and contain Septorella near the top (Bilotte et al, 1983;Bilotte, 1985;Lepicard, 1985;Lepicard et al, 1985;Breton et al, 1995). Hence, the age of these dinosaur sites is probably greater than Early Maastrichtian (Figure 3).…”

“…The Alet Sandstone in turn overlies the marine Marnes de Sougraigne Fm (Sougraigne Marls), which is of late Santonian age. Consequently, a Campanian age is attributed to the Alet Sandstone on the basis of its stratigraphic position (Bilotte et al, 1983;Bilotte, 1985). The Lower Red Marls are divided into four members, which are from base to top (Bilotte, 1978(Bilotte, , 1985Bilotte et al, 1983): a) Marnes rouges de Campagne (Red Marls of Campagne), b) Gr es des Estous (Estous Sandstone), c) Marnes rouges de la Maurine (Red Marls of Maurine) and d) Poudingue Fleuri (Fleuri Conglomerate) (Fig.…”
