Le monnayage d'Orthagoreia

Abstract: Summary. — Orthagoreia is to be sought on the Thracian coast of the North Aegean, to the East of the city of Maroneia. The author argues that this city grew up on the site of Mesembria, an ancient colony of Samothrace. Orthagoreia began striking coins in the middle of the 4th century ВС with issues of silver hemidrachms and bronze units. By the end of the 4th century ВС, silver didrachms were issued.
