“…After the pre-breeding foraging period when appropriate body condition has been met for breeding, female eiders undergo a uniparental 24-26 day incubation fast in which they mobilize their endogenous fat and protein reserves (Hanssen et al 2002;Bottitta et al 2003;Sénéchal et al 2011).
