A successful leader is involved in protecting the rights of those around him/her, helping to achieve their goals, and in conclusion, it is related with both his/her and followers succeed. Successful and effective leaders focus on achieving the goals set before them, and they can modify their styles according to conditions. A health service is a discipline that targets to improve and raise the health status of patients and communities using different skills and knowledge of professional workforce. Physicians should be equipped with leadership knowledge and skills to make it effectively. However, there is no standard leadership program for under/ postgraduate medical students in our country and as well as worldwide. Today's surgery requires the transition of a sense of traditional surgery, and this transition also requires more leadership. Teamwork and leadership practices are even more important in surgical disciplines than others. Besides qualified technical skills, non-technical skills such as situation awareness, decision making, leadership, teamwork, as well as communication are defined in the training program of surgeons. As a result, healthcare needs a change of culture in terms of the leadership applications. Surgery is the most intense discipline in terms of leadership qualities such as teamwork, stress management, and work environment. Therefore, the theme of leadership in postgraduate training programs taking place is inevitable in terms of the future of surgery.
