The aim of this research is to determine the current and desired level of lean maturity level in the local manufacturing industries of Pakistan. This can certainly assist the local industry of Pakistan to optimize their processes, shrink wastes and increase the productivity by using this method. The developed lean assessment model evaluates the lean manufacturing and measures the leanness of the industries in terms of lean maturity model. It comprises of three categories. The assessment model consists of twelve factors on which the lean manufacturing is assessed which include leadership, communication, trainings, inventory, quality, continuous improvement, production processes, lean tools, maintenance, cost, on-time-delivery and energy-efficiency. A series of stages involved in developing lean assessment model, named as modified LESAT, are subdivided into four main phases: detailed literature review, development of lean assessment, data analysis and AS-IS and TO-BE analysis with gap identification. Current maturity level of the industries of Pakistan comes out to be 3.00, that managers and all the staff have knowledge about lean.The future state comes out to 4.00 that lean will be implemented to a greater extent and industry is striving to achieve more via continuous improvement. The gaps identified in many industries are weak in terms of energy efficient, inventory, quality, training, production processes and lean tools. The Pakistani industries must work and improve in view of factors identified. This will aid in achieving more productivity, better performance and excellent quality to survive in the market.

The main purpose of this paper is to propose solutions for overcoming the obstacles that healthcare organizations might face when implementing lean. An in-depth review of existing barriers for lean implementation in healthcare supply chain is presented and validated by experts. Although there is a widespread use of lean concepts in developed countries, little attention has been paid to implementing a lean approach by healthcare providers in developing countries. The present study’s key novelty and contribution is related to this research gap. The study is thus focused in proposing solutions for healthcare organisations in developing countries, especially in Saudi Arabia. The efficacy of these solutions is assessed through experts’ opinion. The paper enhances the body of knowledge for the successful implementation of lean in a hospital setting.

This study focuses on reviewing, analyzing, comparing lean assessment methods/tools from previous researches, and selecting an appropriate method/tool, and then applying the selected one to evaluate the leanness level in the specific company. Literature review and case study research at JVN-Company are conducted in this study. The result finds that: (a) LAT developed by Pakdil & Leonard (2014) is the effective tool to measure efforts in implementing Lean and identify wastes from Lean perspective within an enterprise; and (b) By applying LAT to assess the leanness level at JVN company, the results show that JVN company has achieved the leanness level at 68,58%; while Customer dimension has the highest LAT score showing that JVN has high customer satisfaction and loyalty. However, the delivery dimension, particularly late delivery, is in special need of improvement in comparison with other dimensions. Accordingly, a few proposals have been recommended for JVN to consider and adopt the appropriate ones to improve its performance. Overall, the results of this study provide helpful references for manufacturing companies in Vietnam to self–assess their leanness comprehensively, thereby developing the proper and effective roadmap for Lean transformation.
