Abstract:Transthoracic echocardiography will likely remain the initial screening modality, but modality limitations, questionable findings, and clinical presentations suspicious for noncompaction should be followed up promptly with cardiac magnetic resonance imaging for definitive diagnosis and treatment.
In the current study, myocardial perfusion/metabolism mismatch and match were observed in both non-compacted and compacted myocardium in ILVNC patients. Further research is warranted to determine their pathologic and clinical significance.

The investigation for Barth syndrome must be considered in male babies and young boys with dilated cardiomyopathy and left ventricular noncompaction. Next-generation sequencing technologies provide an accurate and rapid diagnostic tool in prospectively and retrospectively identifying individuals with this Mendelian syndrome.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
