A study of modern global economic initiatives allows us to state that specially organized economic territories can become a powerful driving factor for accelerated economic progress on a national and sectoral scale. These territories, known as special economic zones or regimes (SEZ), are intended to stimulate investment activity by both local and foreign investors, and are aimed at creating high-tech production capacities to meet the economic needs of the state and strengthen its export potential. This emphasizes the relevance of developing effective economic strategies at the regional level through the application of special economic policies. The object of the study is a complex of economic and legal relationships that arise in the area of SEZ organization. The purpose of the study is to assess and analyze the mechanisms of functioning and management of the SEZ using the example of the Republic of Tatarstan from the perspective of their influence on increasing the efficiency of the region. Research methods include analysis and synthesis, research of economic and legal documents, abstract-logical, statistical, logical-legal methods. The scientific novelty of the research is the systematization and generalization of the current factors and mechanisms for increasing the efficiency of the Republic of Tatarstan based on the use of special economic regimes.
