The Agaricales are the largest clade of mushroom-forming fungi, in Colombia, with 544 species of the approximately 16,000 species currently recognized worldwide in the phylum Basidiomycota. We document seven species of Agaricaceae for the first time from the Colombian Caribbean region. Two of these species are newly recorded from the country: Leucoagaricus lilaceus Singer and Leucoagaricus roseilividus (Murrill) E. Ludw. Five species are reported from the Colombian Caribbean for the first time: Agaricus griseorimosus Pegler, Chlorophyllum hortense (Murrill) Vellinga, Leucoagaricus rubrotinctus (Peck) Singer, Leucocoprinus cepistipes (Sowerby) Pat., and L. venezuelanus Dennis.

We provide a list for the ants collected in the leaf litter, soil and vegetation of the Parque Estadual São Camilo, an important conservation unit of Atlantic Forest in Paraná, Brazil, and one of the oldest in the state. We report 108 species, of which eight species and two genera represent new records for Southern Brazil. Seven species are reported for the first time in Paraná. Our work is the first ant list for the western limit of the state, and reveals a surprisingly high number of species considering the extension of the study area. We highlight the importance of integrating different sampling techniques to explore ant diversity, and to conduct baseline studies in protected areas to document biodiversity.

Leaf-cutting ants live in an obligate symbiosis with a species, a basidiomycete that serves as a food source to the larvae and queen. The aim of this work was to isolate, identify and complete the phylogenetic study of species of . Macroscopic and microscopic features were used to identify the fungal symbiont of the ants. The ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 region was used as molecular marker for the molecular identification and to evaluate the phylogeny within the genus. One fungal symbiont associated with was isolated and identified as. The phylogeny of obtained using the ITS molecular marker revealed three well established monophyletic groups. It was possible to recognize one clade of associated with phylogenetically derived leaf-cutting ants ( and ). A second clade of free living forms of (non-cultivated), and a third clade of associated with phylogenetically basal genera of ants were also recognized. The clades corresponded to traditional taxonomic groups, and were differentiated by ecological habitats of different species.
