Letramento Estatístico no Ensino Superior: um Estudo Bibliográfico

Abstract

ResumoO objetivo deste artigo é analisar como está sendo desenvolvido o processo de letramento estatístico no ensino superior. Para isso, fizemos uma revisão bibliográfica da literatura, realizada nos bancos de dados de teses e dissertações da CAPES e na Biblioteca Digital Brasileira de Teses e Dissertações (BDTD), no período de julho de 2021. Utilizamos os descritores: Letramento Estatístico; Ensino Superior; Graduação; Universitário e EAD, em um recorte temporal de 2010 a 2021. A pesquisa nos retornou 32 trabalhos, sendo que apenas 4 envolviam estudantes do Ensino Superior. Para ser um indivíduo crítico e participativo na sociedade é necessário que, em posse dos dados e informações que estão presentes no dia a dia, o indivíduo saiba interpretá-las e avaliá-las, para tomada de decisões. Este conhecimento aliado à postura investigativa e crítica, denominado letramento, é desenvolvido ao longo da vida. No que tange o letramento estatístico, os resultados indicam que, apesar de os estudantes saírem de seus cursos de graduação com algum conhecimento do conteúdo de estatística, é possível que encontrem dificuldade em aplicá-los na prática social. AbstractThe objective of this article is to analyze how the process of statistical literacy in higher education is being developed. For this, we developed a bibliographic literature review carried out in CAPES databases of theses and dissertations and in the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD), during the period of July 2021. We used the descriptors: Statistical Literacy; University education; Undergraduate education; University and distance education, in a time frame from 2010 to 2021. The research returned 32 works, of which only 4 involved higher education students. To be a critical and participatory individual in society, it is necessary that, in possession of the data and information that are present in everyday life, the individual knows how to interpret and evaluate them, for decision making. This knowledge combined with an investigative and critical attitude, called literacy, is developed throughout life. Regarding statistical literacy, the results indicate that although students leave their undergraduate courses with some knowledge of statistical content, it is possible that they find it difficult to apply them in social practice.
