Letter Re: ‘Ejaculatory function following transperineal laser ablation vs TURP for benign prostatic obstruction: a randomized trial’

Abstract

We read with great interest 'Ejaculatory function following transperineal laser ablation vs TURP for benign prostatic obstruction: a randomized trial' [1]. The authors should be applauded for the first randomised controlled trial evaluating transperineal laser ablation (TPLA) for benign prostatic obstruction (BPO). Nevertheless, there are some concerns we would respectfully like to raise.The reported primary aim was comparing antegrade ejaculation preservation between procedures. However, the primary objective mentioned on ClinicalTrials.gov is comparing immediate impact on postoperative pain, BPO relief, and preservation of ejaculatory function at 1, 3, and 6 months. The reason for truncating the primary study aim is unclear.
