Letter Regarding: Endothelial Dysfunction Characterization and Subclinical Corneal Edema in Fuchs Endothelial Corneal Dystrophy

Abstract

We have read the recent publication by Friedrich et al 1 on Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD). In the Abstract, the authors stated that all eyes included in the study had a Krachmer scale grade of 5 and no clinical edema. It would be clearer to explicitly indicate in this mention in the Abstract that the modified Krachmer scale was used. The authors mentioned that corneal guttae are visible under slitlamp examination even in the early stages of FECD. Though, we consider that it is crucial to underscore that guttae can also be observed using specular microscopy, providing the advantage of documentation through microphotographs.
