This study is based on the identification of the novel species Leucoagaricus persicus from Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The species is characterized by convex to broadly convex pileus with a dark reddish‐brown umbo and orangish‐red fibrils on white context. The basidiospores are ellipsoid to elongate, amygdaliform to ovoid (10.2–12.0 × 6.6–7.5 µm), and there are variably shaped cheilocystidia and pileipellis hyphae without clamp connections forming an intricate trichoderm. Morphological and molecular phylogenetic data based on ITS and LSU region of nrDNA separate L. persicus from all other known species in Leucoagaricus.
